    Public speaking help

Hi, does anyone have any advice for how to overcome fears about public speaking, have been behind a screen for so long 🙁

They always say to do one thing every day that scares you! I find the best way is to try and practice in front of a mirror at home. Look at your expressions, your body language as you stand and talk, and think about injecting energy and excitement by actually enjoying what you’re doing. Find opportunities to speak where you feel truly passionate about what you’re saying and it will come much more naturally 🙂

Even the most practiced and confident people get nerves when talking in public – it’s so normal but doesn’t make it any easier to deal with! I try to listen to something empowering and motivational and really try to believe it’s easy. It does take the edge off.

Great suggestions here already! In the past where I have had team members in the same situation, I have asked them to present to me or a colleague about something they are passionate about – it doesn’t have to be about work, it could be on your favourite hobby for example and it is much less daunting to present to people close to you. When you are passionate about something, it’s easier to talk about it, which is great practice. hopefully you’re also passionate about your work so with some practice, you’ll ace it!
